Telephone Exchange/PBX (Private Branch Exchange): While FOH handles guest calls, the actual telephone system (PBX or its modern equivalent, EPABX) and its operators are often considered BOH. They manage all internal and external communication lines for the entire hotel.
Business Centre: While guests use the Business Centre for services like printing, scanning, or internet access, the operational management, maintenance of equipment, and administrative support for these services are BOH functions.

PMS (Property Management System): This is the backbone of modern hotel operations. A computerised system that manages reservations, guest profiles, check-in/out, room assignments, billing, and integrates with other hotel departments. Examples include Opera and Fidelio.
Key-Card Encoder: A device that electronically programs key cards (magnetic stripe or RFID) for guest room access, interfacing directly with the PMS.
EPABX (Electronic Private Automatic Branch Exchange): An advanced telephone system that handles all internal and external calls, enabling features like direct dialling, voicemail, and call accounting.
